Rebecca Goldsmith is an award-winning multimodal writer and producer based in the Midlands, UK.

Her interdisciplinary work includes poetry film, music composition and immersive arts, with a focus on concepts of place, time and memory. Her AHRC-funded PhD research project – Place-based Poetry Film with Immersive Technologies – examines experiential and non-linear forms of digital literature across interactive and immersive spaces of engagement.

Rebecca has been funded as a practitioner by Arts Council England, has been selected for BFI cohorts in Immersive Storytelling and Producer Labs, and has been commissioned by Arts Council-funded organisations to create work to brief.

With 20 years of experience in the creative and cultural industries as a strategic consultant, creative producer and programme manager, Rebecca has a passion for developing partnerships and projects that have social impact. She has delivered UK-wide R&D and project management supported by Arts Council England and the BFI Film Audience Network, has worked in partnership with organisations such as the British Council and BFI Southbank, and now works part-time as Innovation Director and Producer for ForMed Films – a BAFTA-winning animation studio sharing stories of lived-experience for healthcare and social good. 

Organisations she has worked with in a freelance capacity include Dewar Arts Awards, First Story, Forward Arts, the National Justice Museum, Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature, Melbourne Festival, BFI Film Hub Wales, Tom Dale Company, Second Hand Dance, and The Stringcredibles (an outreach quartet from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra).

Mentors and tutors include Deborah Alma (the Emergency Poet and founder of the Poetry Pharmacy), Jonathan Davidson (poet and Executive Director of Writing West Midlands), Prof Ceri Morgan (Professor of Place Writing at Keele University), Dr David Cooper (Director of the Centre for Place Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University), and multi-award-winning poets Helen Mort, James Sheard and Jen Hadfield.

Rebecca holds an MA in Contemporary Literature and Film with Distinction and Dissertation Prize, and a BSc in Psychology.

A project exploring the value of immersive arts for creative health. Currently in development, with scoping for a network, lab, and specific projects for social impact.

ForMed Films CIC

Rebecca is Innovation Director and Producer for ForMed Films CIC, a BAFTA-winning animation company for social good. She produces films that share stories of health and social issues through voices of lived experience, and explores new areas of innovation including interactive and immersive spaces of engagement.
